About HEN:
HEN Technologies is a purpose-driven organization pioneering the development of advanced tools for firefighting in both wildland and structural applications. Utilizing principles of fluid dynamics and thermal science, we have designed a range of products poised to redefine fire suppression techniques. Our dedication to innovation has earned recognition and support from the National Science Foundation.
Role Description:
HEN is constantly innovating new products to revolutionize the firefighting industry, and we’re seeking a Design Engineer II to add to our small but growing product development team. As HEN expands its product portfolio, we’re looking to add an ME with a diverse skill set - spanning mechanical design, rapid prototyping, and familiarity with electro-mechanical systems. You will concentrate on transforming concepts into detailed mechanical designs, prioritizing design for manufacturing and assembly. Your work will span all phases of the design cycle, from defining requirements to prototyping, testing, and refining designs. You’ll leverage in-house prototyping capabilities for rapid iterations and validate your designs through experimentation; then work directly with manufacturing to bring the product to market. A hands-on learner and someone proficient in rapid design and prototyping will thrive in this role.
What you'll do:
- Design, prototype, and test new firefighting equipment (nozzles, shutoffs, etc.)
- Collaborate with vendors to mass manufacture components
- Responsible for electromechanical design of HEN products
- Continuous improvement of current product portfolio
- Hands-on collaboration with manufacturing to bring new products online
- Develop internal test protocols, equipment, and carry-out proof-of-concept tests
- Support design and testing through documentation
What you'll bring:
- BSME 2+ years of experience
- Proficiency in CAD, Solidworks experience desired
- Familiarity with embedded electrical systems desired
- Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics and material science
- Comfortable with common machine tools
- Familiarity with a range of manufacturing and prototyping techniques
- US Citizen
