The Opportunity
This position works out of our Atlanta, GA location in the Heart Failure division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The Senior MEMS Development Engineer will be primarily working on the CardioMEMS HF portfolio, which remotely monitors changes in pulmonary artery (PA) pressure, an early indicator of the onset of worsening heart failure, to aid physicians in preventing worsening heart failure, lower heart failure mortality rates, and improve quality of life for our heart failure patients.
This role involves product development for next- implantable sensors, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable designs. This person will help to drive and lead the development of next product, including design, requirements definition, design documentation, and product testing, verification, and validation. The Senior MEMS Engineer will work closely with the ASIC design / fabrication teams throughout the product development cycle.
What You’ll Work On
Participate in the design, development, and testing of MEMS sensor prototypes for implantable applications.
Design and conduct experiments to enhance sensor performance and reliability.
Create custom test setups for prototype characterization.
Assess and select necessary equipment and tools for production as per sensor specifications.
Perform analytical modeling and FEM simulations of designs as required.
Assist in the transition from prototype design to manufacturing stage.
Provide technical expertise to support the current HF CardioMEMS sensor production line
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, etc.), or a related discipline.
5-7 years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor/MEMS device development and production.
Demonstrated expertise in process development, optimization, design of experiments methodology, and statistical data analysis.
Skilled in programming, mathematical modeling and simulations using engineering software.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
Highly self-motivated with the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively.
Qualifications
Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Engineering or related fields.
Hands-on experience of advanced microelectronics packaging concepts (die-attach, pick-and-place, wire bonding, wafer bonding, adhesive micro-dispensing, etc.).
Multilayer coil winding process design experience is a plus.
Experience transitioning MEMS or semiconductor devices from development to production for development of MEMS.
Experience with Class III implantable medical devices.
