Engineer Assistant

Summary/Objectives:
The engineer assistant position supports the engineering, production, costing and the quality functions of the organization through the development of detailed Bill of Materials, standard shop routing, work instructions and 1:1 CAD layouts, using Solid Works, to facilitate new part production, engineering changes and process changes.
Essential Functions:

• Expertise in compiling BoMs and process flow for newly awarded production parts using company's ERP/MRP system.
• Basic understanding of Solid Works, 1:1 full scale printing. Maintenance of the digital and printed library of full scale drawings, including cataloging, re-printing as needed and auditing of storage locations
• Create, sort, analysis database information and reports using Excel with advanced features such as pivot tables, lookup function, conditional formatting, sorting, filtering, etc.
• Maintain detailed records of tooling and fixture identification numbers including affixing tags.
• Assist the Engineers and production teams to implement continuous improvements in manufacturing flow by updating shop routers and work instruction.
• Administer the Engineering Change System including appropriate record keeping with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change orders and deviations.
• Complete time studies to quantify processing times and identify areas for process improvements
• Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities by maintaining the company's KAIZEN (Continuous Improvement) program. Generate monthly KPI for Kaizens implemented.
• Project or Program Management tasks as assigned.
• Customer portal database management / tooling
• Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner
• Communicate with other departments as necessary
• Keep work areas clean and organized
• Adhere to all company rules and policies
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
