COMPANY HISTORY

For over 75 years, Paul Primavera & Associates and Blankenbeker & Associates have been providing Planning, Engineering, Land Surveying, and Ecological services to Southern Indiana, Metro Louisville, and the surrounding region. Our team of skilled professionals specialize in providing services to landowners, real estate developers, and governmental agencies for turn-key solutions. Our projects range from small plot surveys to muti-million-dollar real estate developments including commercial, residential, medical, hospitality, institutional, and industrial. Our rich history of providing quality professional services to our clients can be attested by the over six hundred residential subdivisions and the billions of dollars in commercial real estate assets of which we have been fortunate to be a part.

Paul Primavera & Associates, Inc., was founded in 1972 by registered Land Surveyor and Professional Engineer Paul E. Primavera in the Town of Corydon, Indiana, the state's first capital. In 2004, Jason M. Copperwaite, a Professional Surveyor and Professional Engineer, pursued his vision to continue the legacy of Paul Primavera and purchased the firm, becoming Copperwaite Design Group, Inc., dba Paul Primavera & Associates. As the company evolved Jason made a key decision in sustaining his vision for future success by partnering with David A. Sanders, a Professional Engineer, in 2016.

Blankenbeker and Son Land Surveyors, Inc., was founded in 1945 by registered Land Surveyor Howard Blankenbeker and served the community's surveying needs in historic Downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana. Rollyn Blankenbeker, Howard's son, joined the practice in the early 1960's and David Blankenbeker, Rollyn's son, joined in 1985. As Copperwaite Design Group continued to grow, Jason and David set their sights on expansion by purchasing Blankenbeker and Son in 2021. Keeping the embedded history of the Blankenbeker name, Jason and David decided to name this new division Copperwaite Design Group, Inc., dba Blankenbeker & Associates.

CIVIL ENGINEERING

Site selection and design are a crucial part of any real estate development project. Our understanding of how the pieces of the development process fit together results in plans ready for construction. Since our in-house team includes Ecological Services, Geotechnical Engineering, Building Design, Planners, Civil Engineering, and Land Surveying, we offer a turnkey solution to bring your projects from concept to reality. Over the years, we have developed strong relationships with local authorities, thus giving us key insights into their different municipal processes. We provide a gamut of services from conceptual sketches, floodplain mitigation, drainage studies, development plans, and up to final construction permitting documents. Whether it is a new residential subdivision, a commercial or industrial site, or a new retail shopping center, we can help you accomplish your project goals.

LAND SURVEYING

The practice of Land Surveying has been in existence since the beginning of recorded history. From the building of the pyramids in ancient Egypt, the monumentation and recording of ownership of real property in the Roman Empire, to the Lewis and Clark Expedition across the United States, surveying has shaped the world as we know it. By combining modern surveying technology with traditional surveying methods, our experienced team of land surveyors provide a wide range of surveying services in residential, commercial, industrial, and government settings. Our mission is to provide reliable service while maintaining the level of quality that our clients have come to expect. Our use of modern software and technologies, such as in-house drone lidar by our licensed FAA-UAS pilots, coupled with our years of experience and assembled team help make us the most desirable addition to your project team.

BUILDING DESIGN

As part of our engineering services, we have performed numerous building design projects. We pride ourselves on a great working knowledge of building codes, ADA guidelines, and ANSI standards. We strive to provide cost effective designs which employ a collaborative process with our clients. As engineers, we are qualified to do all aspects of building layout and code compliance determination including structural design, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), building visualizations and renderings, and submittals to the State of Indiana(KA1) . We enjoy collaborating with clients from conceptual through construction phases, allowing for a seamless process and single point of contact throughout the project.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

Often, the greatest risk to a project lies beneath the surfaces that will be walked, driven, or loaded. It is inevitable that marginal or unsuitable subsurface soil, rock, or geologic conditions may need consideration on your project. The services of a geotechnical professional will allow you to explore and evaluate such conditions to determine an appropriate course of action, whether it be in the project planning phase, during construction, or in operation. Our wide range of geotechnical services and expertise provide a versatile, tailored, and project specific approach. We are passionate about delivering responsive, practical, and cost-effective solution options that consider our local expertise in such conditions and the owner-specific level of risk-cost.

The Geotechnical division of Copperwaite Design Group, Inc., is led by Travis Andres, a licensed professional engineer in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee, specializing in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering. Mr. Andres has over 18 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, project management, construction materials testing, inspection, and QA/QC, and business development. His core competencies include site exploration, evaluation and recommendations for remediation, sinkhole remediation, slope stability analysis, subgrade stability drainage improvements, and managing project teams.

ECOLOGICAL

Another risk factor in development is the ecological impact on the natural environment. From wetlands to stream crossings, it is important to understand the permitting challenges from the start of the project. Can I cross that stream? Do not assume that you can only to be hit with unknown costs and delays during construction. Our team of experts understand the permitting process and what it takes to help mitigate the financial impacts and properly permit your project.

The Ecological division of Copperwaite Design Group, Inc., is led by Matt Blake who boasts over 20 years of experience in ecological consulting throughout the Midwest and Southeast. His areas of expertise include wetland and stream delineation and assessment, wetland restoration/mitigation design, implementation, and monitoring, threatened/endangered species habitat assessment, Section 404/401 permitting, state wetland permitting, interpretation of federal and state laws and regulations regarding ecological management and protection. Mr. Blake is certified as a Professional Wetland Scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists.
