About USDS: U.S. Data Security (“USDS”) is a standalone department of TikTok in the U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. Our focus is on providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and user data in the U.S., so millions of Americans can continue turning to TikTok to learn something new, earn a living, express themselves creatively, or be entertained.

About the team: Our Trust and Safety engineering team is responsible for building machine learning models and systems to identify and defend internet abuse and fraud on our platform. Our mission is to protect billions of users and publishers across the globe every day. We embrace the state-of-the-art machine learning technologies and scale them to detect and improve the tremendous amount of data generated on the platform.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do

1. Play an important role in building the trust and safety machine learning model
2. Work on highly-scalable classifiers, predictive models and algorithms in big data mining, computer vision, NLP and other domains
3. Work with engineering teams to implement model pipeline and deploy the service at scale
4. Collaborate with product team to define objectives and improve trust and safety strategy
5. Collaborate with data analyst to understand and find data patterns

Qualifications

1. This opening is for both junior level and mid level. Minimum requirement is a BS degree with 2+ years’ industrial experience, or a MS/PhD degree with 1+ years' relevant experience
2. Hands-on experience in one or more of the areas: machine learning, deep learning, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, data mining, computer vision, NLP or content understanding
3. Good programming skills in Python and similar languages, and a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms
4. Good communication and teamwork skills, be passionate about learning new techniques and taking on challenging problems
5. Experience in trust and safety is a plus

Job Information:

For Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112065 - $259200 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
