Senior Mechanical Engineer

Insight Global - Senior Mechanical Engineer - Milford, Ohio

An employer in the Cincinnati, Ohio area is looking to hire for 2 senior Mechanical Engineer positions to support the development, integration, and validation of their cutting-edge generator technology. These resources will be responsible for the following on a day-to-day basis:

1. Ownership of hardware components and/or sub-systems from all avenues including functionality, durability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, weight, validation, etc.
2. Collaborate with design, electrical, software, and performance teams to generate robust designs.
3. Conduct tech reviews to present findings and propose solutions for any identified conflicts. Manage trade-off discussions and engineering decisions.
4. Build, test, and validate prototypes early and often to tease out flaws in design.
5. Support the design checking process by reviewing prints and ensuring tolerances, processes and material specifications are aligned with the company's product design guidelines.
6. Support the identification and selection of suppliers to support prototype and production needs.
7. Support the purchasing process to assist in the procurement of hardware from key suppliers as needed.

Skills and Requirements:

1. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
2. 10-15 years of engineering experience, with a track record of successfully integrating and troubleshooting complex systems (mechanical or thermal systems using ANSYS).
3. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) tools.
4. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering is a plus.
5. 3+ years in the automotive, aerospace, or medical device industry.
6. Formula SAE or GE Edison works background.
7. Exposure to electrical systems including motors, inverters, and batteries.
