Opportunity: Our client is looking for a Senior Aerospace Engineer to lead their team of hardware and aerospace engineers in the design, development and testing of hardware systems.

Requirements: You have 8+ years of experience working preferably in the aerospace industry or relevant environment.

Requirements

Core responsibilities

  • Lead and manage hardware and aerospace design, development, and testing of hardware systems (cargo, communication systems, flight control, navigation, propulsion, sensors, GCS, GSE)
  • Supervise the selection process of hardware components
  • Develop and oversee plans and schedules for hardware development, ensuring on-time project delivery.
  • Mentor and lead a team of engineers across different experience levels, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new hardware designs
  • Drive prototype creation and oversee thorough testing. Own performance and reliability, including post-launch operations.
  • Resolve hardware-related issues promptly and efficiently, employing troubleshooting and improvement strategies. Participate in design reviews.
  • Contribute to hardware design and problem-solving and maintain a hands-on approach.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the engineering team's successes and obstacles.
  • Set ambitious goals for yourself and your team, continuously raising the bar for what can be achieved.

Required

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience (aerospace industry preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams for multiple years
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Expert experience with FEA (Ansys, Nastran)
  • Experience with mechanical design and analysis
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and techniques used in the aerospace industry
  • experience working with vendors for manufacturing
  • Experience with technical drawings and GD&T

Ideal candidate

  • Experience with CAM, CNC, mill, lathe, composite layup, mold making, and shop tools
  • 3D printing experience
  • Experience flying planes and/or large drones
  • Experience with composite structure design and analysis
