Job Description:
General Summary:
The Senior Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational, and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager, and/or client.
- Perform as project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule.
- Keep current with latest code publications and apply in everyday analysis as applicable. Ability to seamlessly apply minimum code requirements to construction documents and specifications.
- Apply loading on structures, including wind and seismic forces, and convey forces and required detailing on drawings.
- Produce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment when applicable.
- Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents with a basic understanding of Architectural details and MEP requirements.
- Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items.
- Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager.
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
- Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks. Backcheck others' work and verify models are being correctly produced.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Registration; S.E. preferred.
Experience:
12-15 years of related experience in the structural engineering field.
Solid CMU design knowledge.
Analysis: Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred.
