Job Requirements / Description

Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead network lifecycle management programs by defining high-level objectives and delivery procedures.
  2. Organize project technical milestones & supporting tasks.
  3. Work as project technical lead, coordinating efforts of two or three engineers.
  4. Advise project/program manager and coordinate with immediate and skip-level leadership.
  5. Collaborate across teams within the same organization.
  6. Serve as technical SME in cross-functional activities.
  7. Have technical responsibility for moderately complex projects, including project requirements, specifications, and documentation.
  8. Decompose high-level architectures into detailed designs.
  9. Lead multiple engineers in developing network solutions with complex interactions.
  10. Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems.
  11. Serve at Tier2 or specialized escalation point for network events and provide break-fix support for large-scale events.
  12. Act as SME for root cause analysis efforts.
  13. Frequently develop scripts to automate non-traditional, complex tasks for the business unit.
  14. Serve as a technical lead on network automation design and delivery projects.
  15. Provide guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff.
  16. Interpret input from leaders and provide focused development to junior members.
  17. Carry out technical coaching sessions and help junior members develop skills.
  18. Collaborate with vendor engineering and account manager to address current business or operational issues.
  19. Participate in the development of RFQ/RFPs and lead the adoption of new vendor hardware.
  20. Communicate actively with product teams and drive technology to meet product and service requirements.
  21. Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to assess gaps, solutions, and needs.
