Under general supervision, the Senior Data Analyst will perform various administrative, analytical, and reporting functions in support of departmental programs, projects, and services. Individuals in this role will gather, consolidate, process, track, and analyze data and information using automated systems, utilizing data findings to provide recommendations regarding departmental policies, procedures, and services. In addition to handling various department-related questions and issues.

The Senior Data Analyst is expected to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collects, queries, and analyzes data using standard statistical tools, applications, methods, and techniques. Gathers, analyzes, and tracks data related to programs, projects, and services using both standard and custom queries, as well as ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Data Interpretation: Interprets data analysis results to identify significant differences, patterns, and trends, providing actionable insights to inform decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration: Communicates with various individuals and entities, including collaborating with development teams to design business intelligence solutions for gathering, storing, and retrieving data and information related to research programs, projects, and services.
  • Performance Monitoring & Evaluation: Utilizes performance metrics and data mining techniques to monitor and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external sources, supporting informed business decisions related to research projects, programs, and services.
  • System Requirements & Reporting: Performs additional tasks such as preparing system requirements to address business information needs, and developing dashboards, reports, and presentations to effectively communicate data insights and support decision-making.
  • Data Support & Troubleshooting: Serves as a knowledgeable point of contact for handling data-related inquiries, including troubleshooting issues and advising users on data conflicts and proper usage.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Reviews data loaded into data warehouses to identify trends or anomalies, resolve errors or issues, and validate data accuracy and integrity.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and reporting work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Enterprise data systems, Structured Query Language (SQL), and writing and managing stored procedures in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Knowledge of enterprise Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools, such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or Informatica PowerCenter.
  • Knowledge in developing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards and applications using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS).
  • Knowledge of statistics and analyzing datasets; running queries, report writing, and presenting findings; and record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data.
  • Knowledge in creating ad hoc reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Ability to compile, review, and analyze data; to prepare reports; to maintain accuracy and attention to detail; and to communicate effectively.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-Time

  • Monday – Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  

    • Occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required based on the specific needs and demands of the department.

Salary:

  • $42.33 - $64.23 Hourly

  • Depends on Qualifications

  • Based on 26 Pay Periods

    • Plus, benefits

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This position is based in an office environment, where the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and filing cabinets is routine. The physical demands associated with this job are minimal, with occasional lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. The role is predominantly sedentary, involving mainly sitting with occasional standing and walking.
