Junior Electrical Engineer

Role Summary

Our client is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join their rapidly growing team. The Junior Electrical Engineer will be a project design leader, preparing planning and design documents and processing design calculations as part of the Mechanical and Electrical team. The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in performing detailed power system engineering studies.

Key Results Area

  1. Lead and manage engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and achievement of project goals.
  2. Design, development, testing, and integration of embedded software/hardware systems.
  3. Development of electrical single-line diagrams and overall plant electrical distribution systems.
  4. Specifying and purchasing key electrical equipment such as medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, transformers, and the like.
  5. Write purchase specifications, evaluate quotations, perform technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, and factory acceptance testing.
  6. Perform electrical system studies including short circuits, load flow, transient motor start, protection relay coordination, and arc flash, and create appropriate protective device settings.
  7. Assist the project team in the production of projects on time, within budget, and consistent with industry standards.
  8. Perform specific engineering studies and other design analyses using industry software.
  9. Conduct project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and observe installed construction; make comments based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.
  10. Assist senior technical staff in the development of technical documentation, proposals, and presentations to clients.
  11. Maintain a continued focus on keeping up with industry trends and changes through continued self-education and training.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. 2+ years of experience in the design of industrial electrical power systems.
  3. Computer literate and experienced in the use of SKM Power Tools, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  4. Ability to self-execute all electrical engineering and oversee design within a given project, as well as lead a team of electrical engineers and designers on larger, more complex projects.
  5. Knowledge and application of switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, motors, and generators used in industrial power systems, as well as the ability to prepare and interpret specifications related to such equipment.
