JOB DESCRIPTION – Sr. Engineering Program Manager

The engineering program manager will be responsible for performing tasks related to project management of new development programs. The individual will interact with design engineers within a mixed discipline project structure. Responsibilities include planning schedules, outlining deliverables, and setting timelines for the assigned programs. The program manager will monitor project costs and integration/test schedules with the operations group, in addition to supporting the build of the first-of-kind tools within the framework of the product lifecycle development process. The selected individual will work with a skilled and motivated engineering team including mechanical, electrical and software engineers, designers, technicians and consultants on multiple projects and tasks (which may include new product development, product continuous improvements, value engineering, cost reductions and application-specific customizations). The position reports to the SVP of Product development in Florham Park, NJ.

Required Qualifications:

  1. B Sc. degree in engineering or Science
  2. 10-15 years of experience managing development of automated equipment for the semiconductor or electronics or medical manufacturing industries
  3. Experience introducing new products into the market from concept to production
  4. Ability and willingness to be flexible & adaptable to changing priorities and assignments
  5. Experience managing programs for Intel is a plus

Responsibilities:

  1. Managing product development programs, which will cover all aspects of system design, electrical, software, mechanical and applications
  2. Overseeing and directing the overall program development and works directly with Engineering functional management to allocate resources and define milestones
  3. Coordinating design and project reviews to ensure the participation of all functions including marketing, engineering, applications, manufacturing, and field service
  4. Creating and maintaining detailed Gantt charts, keeping all stakeholders aware of critical path issues and mitigation plans along with managing the budget and BOM costs
  5. Leading the creation of the product development plan as defined by the PLC process, including engineering specifications, response to marketing requirements document, work breakdown structure, and development milestones
  6. Assuming full ownership of the release of the new products to production, including documentation, training of key personnel, and development of manuals and test procedures
  7. Interfacing with engineering for continuous improvement projects and upgrade/retrofit kits
  8. Participating in customer meetings such as working groups, quality, training, and taskforce meetings to capture actions, assign owners and estimate deliverables
  9. Interfacing with sales team, account management, leadership team and customer stakeholders
  10. Interfacing with customers, providing updates, and managing design testing to closure

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Professional experience developing complex equipment in a matrix organization
  2. Experience tracking and managing requirements and specifications
  3. Experience reporting program status to internal and external stakeholders
  4. Experience interacting with key customer stakeholders
  5. Proven ability to manage projects or programs with solid track record
  6. Experience in MS Project, Excel, Word and Power Point a must
  7. Solid knowledge of Program Management and Product Life Cycle Development Process

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

25% travel including domestic and international trips to factory, vendor, and customer sites up to 1-2 weeks.
