WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer.This OpportunityBe involved in projects with our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.This position can sit out of the following WSP offices:Merrimack, NHBoston, MANorth Providence, RIGlastonbury, CTWorcester, MAShelton, CTOther WSP offices throughout New England can be considered.Your ImpactPerform/lead/coordinate field observation and special inspection of subsurface investigations in soils and rockPerform/Lead geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineersPrepare/draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reportsPerform/lead/coordinate field observation and special Inspection of geotechnical constructionServe as task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract DocumentsProvide technical guidance to junior engineers and review/check their workCollaborate with other disciplines and project partnersAssist to develop and coordinate geotechnical work in New England and surrounding areasWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering or a closely-related field7 to 10 years of relevant experienceExtensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, Environmental, and/or Planning)Working knowledge of applicable codes and standardsExperience in design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projectsExperience in developing Contract DocumentsStrong verbal and written communication skillsMust be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in work environmentProficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, RockSciences Software, etc), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and other tools.Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work occasionallyMust successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screeningExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling EngineeringUS Professional Engineer registration or ability in acquiring in near futureExperience managing small to mid-size projects.40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.#LI-MC1About WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
