WHAT WE’RE DOING

The world’s most advanced combat system. The Aegis Combat System is the Navy’s most modern surface combat system. It was designed as a complete system: the missile launching element, the computer programs, the radar and the displays are fully integrated to work together. This makes the Aegis system the first fully integrated combat system built to defend against advanced air and surface threats.

WHO YOU ARE

Will support Aegis Combat System Integration Testing for DDG-51 and CG-47 Class ships as a Weapons Control Systems Test and Integration Engineer as part of the Aegis Modernization Team – San Diego (AMT – SD). Will be responsible for ensuring the Aegis Weapons Control System is operational and available to support Combat System testing during Aegis Modernization Availabilities.

After a successful training period the specific responsibilities include:

  1. Responsible for ensuring the Weapons Control System (WCS) and Fire Control System (FCS) equipment suite, WCS and FCS computer program, and equipment interfaces are operational and ready to support all test events.
  2. Provide status reports, as required, to the AWS Lead Engineer/ Test Directors.
  3. Review existing test procedures, recommend changes, and document test procedure discrepancies for future revision.
  4. Execute Test Procedures and Test Plans as required to demonstrate radar performance for both in port and at sea test events and generate test reports.
  5. Analyze element test results and report findings as necessary to support those functional tests involving the Aegis Weapons Control System.
  6. Interface with equipment In-Service Engineering Agencies (ISEA), Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA) and Software Support Activities (SSA) to research and resolve WCS and FCS system anomalies.
  7. Lead troubleshooting of WCS/FCS equipment, interfaces, configuration and computer program problems and document discrepancies.
  8. Support Navy crew familiarization on Weapons Control System equipment, maintenance and operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering discipline or applicable experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience with complex military hardware/software and testing procedures, and the ability to analyze test results and report findings.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of theory and operations of computer/network/hardware systems for military weapons delivery and/or control.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of LINUX/UNIX operating systems.
  5. Intermediate level of competence with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Power Point and Project).
  6. Must be physically able to work aboard a U.S. Navy ship and support short underway periods.
  7. Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time CONUS and OCONUS.

Desired Skills:

  1. Demonstrated operational and hardware experience on the Aegis Weapons Control System or Aegis Fire Control System.
  2. Experienced with analysis of data extraction and analysis for the Aegis Weapons Control System.
  3. An understanding of US Navy preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and proficiency in reading technical documents is desired.
  4. Experience with large scale Ship Integration and Test practices.
  5. Experience interfacing with US Navy personnel and familiarity with US Navy command structure.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of basic Electrical Test Equipment: Oscilloscope, Power Meters, Vector/Scalar Network Analyzer, and other associated test equipment.
  7. Experience with troubleshooting fiber optic, cable, power and cooling issues in equipment.
  8. Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills with good written and verbal communication skills.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Non-standard 40 hour work week as assigned by leader.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $67,400 - $129,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
