Senior Chemist - NPD Engineering - Marlborough, MA

As a Senior Chemical Engineer at my client's sustainable materials initiative, you'll lead exciting formulation development efforts within the NPI Engineering team. This hands-on role involves driving new material innovations, coordinating vendor and material selection, creating prototypes, defining process controls, and supporting both chemical engineering and production teams.

They offer services like PTFE, hydrophilic, and other specialty coatings to enhance the performance, durability, and bio-compatibility of critical parts across many industries.

Description

This role will report into the VP of Engineering and be responsible for:

• Lead formulation development and manage project execution.
• Train and support chemical engineering team on new materials and formulations.
• Collaborate with program management to design and qualify new coating formulations.
• Identify new vendors and materials for formulation testing and feasibility studies.
• Establish chemical process standards, document test results, and prepare reports for internal and customer use.
• Develop and execute DOEs, process validation protocols, and process development reports.
• Oversee sample preparation, ensuring quality, quantity, and on-time delivery.
• Train lab and production personnel on new formulations in both lab and manufacturing settings

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

• 5+ years experience developing new chemical formulations in labs
• Knowledge of medical device manufacturing and/or ISO 13485 preferred
• Team player who is able to work cross functionally across teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a wet chemistry lab
• Metallurgical properties knowledge of aluminum alloys a plus
