Insight Global is looking for a full-time direct-hire R&D Product Engineer to work in office in West Chicago, IL , with interest in the building materials manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate has experience with R&D/New Product Development on the mechanical side .
Job Summary:
This person will be responsible for supporting product designs within the innovation group of the company. This company is the top leading door manufacturer in the US. He/she will partner with key technical, manufacturing, and business partners to identify, define, coordinate, and execute on the development and testing of new residential door solutions. This role is also responsible for the coaching and mentoring of associate scientists, engineers, technicians, and contractors to deliver on the goals of the doors line of business. He/she will have support for expertise within acoustics, fire protection, and material science.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to work in West Chicago, IL, and does not require sponsorship
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Physics, or similar field
- 3+ years of new product development (NPD) and research and design (R&D) Design experience, preferably in building materials or related industries (or interested in this field)
- Experience using either SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, Revit, or AutoCAD
- Experience in ACOUSTICS noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) analysis and mitigation is a plus
- Strong analysis and testing experience: FEA analysis, vibrational analysis, thermal analysis, structural analysis, noise, or harshness (NVH) Experience within the building materials industry is a plus
- Strong understanding of standards such as (GD&T, ASTM, ASA, INCE, WDMA, or ISO9001
