The work:
Sr. Systems Engineer supports the Lead Engineer/Agile Manager in the application of Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) principles, methodologies, and tools to achieve continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in support of the Operational Medicine mission. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Configuration, management, and implementation of a CI/CD software factory to support a team of developers to deliver applications and tools that meet stakeholder needs.
- Support to Agile teams in the use of the software factory tools and methods to deliver military health IT solutions.
- Oversee the delivery of initiatives for cybersecurity, data center operations, and maintenance/enhancement of the CI/CD ecosystem, cloud migration and systems engineering activities.
- Ensure products meet Software Code Quality and Software Assurance tools per established client policies and Minimum Viable Capability Release (MVCR) Agile cycle as defined in the DoD Instruction: Operation of the Software Acquisition Pathway (DoDI 5000.87).
- Develop and implement processes for automated distribution of software patches.
- Ensure cyber security, testing, documentation, and training development are performed in accordance with Agile methodologies.
- Ensure software functions/integrates onto system platforms and meets all required laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
- Ensure software, hardware, and network compatibility between legacy and future capabilities.
- Ensure solutions are scalable to function in multiple configurations to simplify ease of use, maintenance.
- Oversee the use of Software Code Quality and Software Assurance tools, collect and report Help Desk metrics, training survey results, and will explore and recommend steps to move all systems to device agnostic platforms.
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of system interfaces within the system of systems and applicable joint mission partner systems.
Here's what you need:
- Demonstrated experience leading Agile DevSecOps projects using JAVA, .NET, C#, and SQL.
- Demonstrated understanding of communicating between applications using HL7 2.x and FHIR (Fast Health Interoperability Resources) using a healthcare integration engines like Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, etc.
- Demonstrated experience configuring, implementing, and supporting a cloud-based software factory in Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud, along with a deep understanding of the tools and resources available in the AWS GovCloud to support DevSecOps and CI/CD.
- Deep understanding of the DoDI 5000.87 Software Acquisition Pathway.
- US Citizenship Required.
- Secret clearance or ability to obtain required.
Location: Onsite Fort Detrick, MD
The pay range for the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia is: $88,600—$178,600 USD.
