APP Psychiatry and Mental Health Fellowship

Purpose:

The APP Psychiatry and Mental Health Fellowship is an immersive 12-month program focusing on mental health in underserved populations. It aims to support the development of clinical decision-making and specialized skills through didactics and clinical experiences.

Structure and Supervisory Relationships

Fellowship Psychiatric Program Director: Judy Evenson, PMHNP-BC

Fellowship Psychiatric Associate Program Director: Jason Ipsarides, DNP, PMHNP-BC & Anna Melville, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Fellowship Education Coordinator: Jean Witte

Fellowship Physician Champion: Himanshu Agrawal, MBBS, MD

Fellowship Expectation and Learning Outcomes:

  • Advanced Assessment: Elicits, selects, and integrates information for patients with acute, critical, and/or complex chronic illnesses.
  • Differential Diagnosis: Prioritizes real and potential conditions based on available data.
  • Outcomes Identification: Formulates goals using scientific evidence consistent with patient's wishes and capabilities.
  • Plan of Care: Develops outcomes-focused plan with an interprofessional team.
  • Implementation of Treatment: Identifies and prescribes therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluation of Care: Ongoing evaluation of plan of care, making modifications as needed.

CORE ADVANCED PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs comprehensive histories and psychiatric assessments.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops treatment plans.
  • Monitors plan effectiveness.
  • Educates patients on disease and treatment.
  • Performs procedures as credentialed.
  • Documents in EMR.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers.
  • Educates patients and families.
  • Position Requirements:

    Nurse Practitioners

    Completion of an accredited NP Master's or Doctoral Program

    Must possess National Board Certification as NP

    Licensure as NP in Wisconsin

    Eligible for DEA licensure

    Acceptable background check

    Physician Assistants/Associates

    Completion of an accredited PA master's program

    Possess NCCPA certification

    Licensure as PA in Wisconsin

    Eligible for DEA licensure

    Acceptable background check
