Sr. Cost Accountant (Electronics Manufacturing)

Acara Solutions has been providing aerospace/defense and other advanced manufacturing firms with our staffing services for over 60 years. Our Littleton, CO (South Denver), international electronics client is looking for a Sr. Cost Accountant to join their organization as a direct salaried employee onsite . The base salary target range is $90K - $100K, but may go higher for the right candidate.
This is an onsite position. Work closely with the Controller. A good possible avenue to be promoted into a Controller position in the future. This position could be considered an assistant controller.

• Analyze performance metrics inclusive of those above and others to understand plant performance and make recommendations to Finance Business Partner and General Manager.
• Work with operational department managers to understand cost performance, analyze period variances from standards or forecast.
• Support Finance Business Partner in preparation of Budget/Forecast/Period End Variance Analysis cycle.
• Support conversion of ERP systems to Oracle
• Inventory valuation:
  • Prepare inventory reconciliation
  • Calculate Prod Cost % quarterly
  • Calculate reserves for Excess & Obsolete inventory
  • Analyze WIP aging and work with operations to address old work orders
• Standard Cost Analysis:
  • Analyze over/under absorption
  • Review job close variances
  • Review PPV variances
  • Update Standard cost rates
  • Perform profitability analysis (by PN and/or by Customer)
• Maintain/Update system set ups:
  • If a new department is added, determine if it is costed or not with Oracle SME
  • If a new department is costed, determine cost drivers and rates with Oracle SME
  • Set up new resources, Overhead and rates in Oracle
  • If WIP costing is done outside of Oracle, ensure that Oracle and other systems are in sync (e.g. have same rates and calculate same product cost )
• Prepare Virtual P&L by Market and report variances
• Month end close tasks:
  • Open/close inventories
  • Prepare inventory related journal entries
  • Coordinate/execute Quarter sample audits of Raw, WIP & FG inventory

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Min 3 years of experience within accounting in a manufacturing firm with considerable hands-on floor experience. This experience has to include strong cost accounting and standard costing and ideally standard rate and capital variances. Strong research and analytical skills included. Min 2 years of advanced Excel experience (PivotTables, data manipulation...)
ITAR facility with military clients - ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance is required
Preferred: Experience within a larger organization ($50M in revenue) and experience in a publicly traded firm is a plus SOX Oracle ERP systems, SQL and/or Access
