As the Firmware and Electrical Engineering Lead , you will work on a variety of projects to help us build out our embedded code base, design robust electronics to run the code, and play an important role in developing our next generation of consumer products. REEKON Tools has active products in all stages of development from early R&D to supporting products and tools in the hands of tens of thousands of professionals. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with our engineering team developing new hardware prototypes for a range of construction and home improvement applications in a contributor and leadership capacity.
An ideal candidate for this role has experience in developing, from prototype to mass production, consumer electronics, or similar, in a hands-on environment. This role combines both architecture and execution based work as it relates to developing hardware products.

The Job
- Lead efforts on the firmware and electrical engineering fronts both as a leader and as a contributor.
- Architect systems designed to leverage novel sensors, components, and meet product requirements.
- Implement systems integrations of sensors, displays, and microcontrollers into prototypes transitioned to high volume products.
- Work with our cross-functional engineering team in developing new hardware products with tightly integrated mechanical and electrical elements controlled by embedded software.
- Conduct explorations of new technology and sensors to be used in future products.
- Comfortable in conducting independent research and explorations.
- Design circuits and system architecture for next-generation tools.
- Organize and maintain BOMs.
Qualifications
- Practical Experience in Electrical Design - designing schematics through PCBs and getting them manufactured for high volume consumer electronics.
- Practical Experience in Embedded Systems - Can design, program, and debug bare-metal (C/C++) or RTOS (Zephyr) architectures.
- Creative Mindset to Solve Difficult Problems - navigate a variety of inherent startup constraints working on novel products.
