What Will You Do?

The VP of Engineering - Digital at Ashley Furniture plays a crucial role in driving the technological advancement of our digital experiences. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Retail Technology, this position requires a blend of visionary thinking and practical execution. The VP will focus on integrating and harmonizing digital touchpoints across physical stores, online platforms, and customer service tools, ensuring they operate seamlessly to enhance both customer and associate experiences.

This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a strong background in digital commerce and a passion for customer-centric strategies.

Primary Job Functions

  1. Strategic Technology Leadership : Develop and implement a comprehensive tech strategy that aligns with both immediate and long-term business goals.
  2. Architectural Oversight and Innovation : Lead the design and innovation of technology architecture focused on retail and e-commerce experiences.
  3. Integration of Retail Technologies : Ensure cohesive integration of technologies within retail operations and broader corporate systems.
  4. Team Leadership and Development : Mentor and lead a team of technology professionals, fostering skill development and innovation.
  5. Executive Team Collaboration : Participate in executive decision-making, aligning technology initiatives with overall business strategy.
  6. Technology Evaluation and Decision-Making : Review and approve new technology implementations and acquisitions.
  7. Emerging Technology Analysis : Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, assessing their potential impact and application in retail.
  8. Facilitate Vendor Selection : Identify and recommend potential technology vendors for initial engagements and partnerships.
  9. Budget Oversight and Resource Allocation : Oversee technology-related budget considerations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  10. Risk Management and Mitigation : Proactively identify and address technological risks to the business.
  11. Compliance and Security Protocols : Ensure adherence to legal standards, security protocols, and best practices in technology.
  12. Guide Organizational Change : Lead the organization through technological transitions, focusing on change management strategies.
  13. Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment : Engage with business units to align technology solutions with their needs and goals.
  14. Direct Data Strategy Initiatives : Guide the development and management of data strategies to support business decisions.
  15. Enhance Customer Experience Through Technology : Utilize technology to innovate and improve the customer journey in retail.
  16. Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration : Ensure technology initiatives support and enhance broader business operations.
  17. Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement : Promote learning, adaptation, and innovation within the technology department.
  18. Adapt and Future-Proof Technology Strategy: Continuously adapt technology strategy to meet evolving business needs and market changes.

  1. Travel Requirements : Be prepared for moderate domestic and international travel as required by the role. Likely includes annual visit to India, and quarterly visit to domestic facilities.

Job Qualifications
  1. 10+ years' experience of developing world-class customer-facing experiences having more than 100M sessions annually.
  2. 7+ years leading and managing large cross-functional delivery teams.
  3. Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role within a large, customer-facing organization.
  4. Strong working knowledge of modern web technologies, including modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue.js), design systems, and content delivery networks (CDNs).
  5. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and processes, including container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  6. Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and experience driving agile transformations.
  7. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Compensation: Annual Salary = $200,000 - $250,000 plus bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Profit sharing is available to eligible employees; this discretionary program is dependent on the profitability of the company.
