Job Requirements / Description

Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, maintain, operate, and regulate nuclear reactors and power plants
  • Provide technical oversight for the Navy's nuclear-powered ships
  • Manage projects ranging from reactor design to fleet operations

Education Opportunities:

  • Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program available for current undergraduate students
  • Postgraduate education opportunities including Post-9/11 GI Bill and Navy Tuition Assistance Program
  • Various service colleges and Navy College Program for further education

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen between the ages of 19 and 29
  • Graduate or current student pursuing a B.A., B.S., or M.S. in technical areas
  • Completed one academic year of calculus and calculus-based physics

Work Environment:

Naval Reactors Headquarters at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
