Database Architect

The Database Developer is responsible for the overall design and development of databases that underlie the business applications. The primary focus will be on business intelligence applications; but will also include other business-critical applications. Working with our DBA team, application developers, business analysts, and end users to understand their needs; you will be responsible for database design and implementation. The Database Developer will also assist in performance tuning and troubleshooting issues related to the databases.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

1. Works with the DBA team, application developers, business analysts, and end users to understand needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
2. Designs and implements databases including tables, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
3. Troubleshoots issues with data and/or performance and recommends solutions.
4. Serves as liaison between the application team and the DBA support team.
5. Complies with corporate change management processes.
6. Assists with data integration work.
7. At times, assists with ETL and/or report development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 5-7 years demonstrated experience designing/modeling relational and analytical databases.
2. 5-7 years demonstrated experience designing and developing databases in a Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environment.
3. 5-7 years designing and developing MS SQL Server databases.
4. Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communications.
5. Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles (waterfall, iterative, agile, etc.).
6. Experience with Erwin Data Modeling software.
7. Experience with Modern Database/storage technologies (Azure, Data Lake, NoSQL, etc.) is a plus.
8. Experience modeling and/or writing reports in PowerBI is a plus.
9. Experience with ETL technologies is a plus.
10. Experience with IBM DB2 is a plus.
