The ML Platform team handles machine learning activities within the BRIC department, with two main areas of focus:

1. ML Infrastructure: Encompasses model training, serving, and management.
2. LLM Applications: Utilizes both third-party LLM services and self-hosted open-source models to support various application scenarios in BRIC.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will:

• Build machine learning solutions to respond to and mitigate business risks in TikTok products/platforms, including abusive accounts, fake engagements, spammy redirection, scraping, and fraud.
• Build modeling infrastructures, LLM applications, labels, features, and algorithms towards robustness, automation, and generalization, reducing modeling and operational load on risk adversaries and new product/risk ramping-ups.
• Uplevel risk machine learning excellence on privacy/compliance, interpretability, risk perception, and analysis.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant machine-learning-heavy majors.
• Solid coding skills and ability to build large-scale systems. Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Java, C++, Rust; ability to quickly pick up others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of industry experience in a software development environment.
• Familiarity with machine learning infrastructure, LLM applications, or social/content platform real-time stream computing systems.
• Strong machine learning background. Proficiency or publications in modern machine learning theories and applications such as deep learning, transfer/multi-task learning, reinforcement learning, time series, or graph algorithms.
• Ability to think critically, objectively, and rationally. Reason and communicate in a result-oriented, data-driven manner. High autonomy.

Job Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194,000 - $355,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
