The LargeSaaS group (LSaaS) is part of Oracle’s Infrastructure Global Industry Unit organization, focusing on large revenue cloud solutions for Construction Engineering and Energy & Water industries. The LSaaS group includes two of Oracle's largest revenue SaaS products: Oracle Textura Payment Management Platform for Construction and Oracle Opower - Engagement Management Platform for Utilities.

We are seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to lead the LSaaS Data Platform team, which currently consists of 70 software developers and reports to the Vice President of Product Development, LSaaS group.

The LSaaS Data Platform team owns mission-critical data systems that enable hundreds of clients (and millions of end users) for Textura and Opower. The team is responsible for a full cycle of data management, including:

1. Services to receive data that vary from manual data ingest solutions for utilities, ERP adapters for construction clients, as well as modern cloud solutions.
2. Services for data validation, normalization, and transformation, streaming, and pipelines.
3. Flexible and extensible data storage solutions.
4. Easy-to-use and secure APIs for retrieving and sharing customer data and analytics for multiple parties, including utilities, construction companies, Oracle internal use, and third-party entities.
5. A rate modeling solution for the utility industry.
6. Data governance (security, compliance, regulatory requirements, privacy laws, and more).

Data sources include utility customers' core data (accounts, contacts, billing, etc.), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) electricity usage reads, third-party acquired data (such as weather data, household data, etc.), and payment data for construction clients, generating insights and analytics totaling over 2 PB.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team of talented software engineers (manage senior managers/directors).
2. Identify, recruit, and retain strong engineering talent.
3. Establish and develop best practices, adopt technologies, tools, and methods.
4. Drive software architecture decisions and contribute to the direction and strategy of the team.
5. Collaborate with other engineering and consulting teams across multiple geographies.

Qualifications & Skills:

1. Highly technical: comfortable engaging and influencing Data Principal Engineers and Architects.
2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
3. 12+ years in the software industry with hands-on development experience in Python or Java preferred.
4. 8+ years in management at Software Engineering, specifically managing software development teams in the data/analytics domain.
5. 5+ years in architecture: designing and architecting applications as a Principal Engineer or above.
6. Ability to translate customer requirements and features into design specifications.
7. Proven track record of successful design and delivery of cloud services at scale in a public cloud.
8. Experience at an organization with a strong operational culture.
9. Experience with agile/test-driven methodologies.
10. Experience with ERP or accounting systems is highly preferred.
11. Experience designing and delivering tools to support modern data science platforms (AI/ML tools, integrations to third-party analytics platforms, data modeling & API design) is preferred.
12. Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner.

Compensation:

US: Hiring Range: from $142,900 to $338,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
