Senior Optical Systems Engineer

Description

We are seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join the Leidos Innovations Center team in either San Diego, CA or Dayton, Ohio. In this role, you will lead the design and development of innovative optical technologies for future space systems. You will collaborate with a growing team to analyze, evaluate, and integrate new optics technologies into satellite optical payloads, with the goal of reducing size, weight, power, and cost while enhancing performance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Utilize expertise in optics design to analyze performance and size, weight, and power for satellite optical payloads
• Collaborate with teammates to evaluate and mature optics technologies for future space systems
• Contribute to developing a roadmap of novel imaging technologies for future space systems

Basic Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or equivalent field
• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
• Expertise in evaluating optical components and experience with optical design tools
• Proficiency in finite element-based design tools and technical writing
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance
• Master's or Ph.D. in relevant fields
• Experience in proposal development and business development
