Job Summary:
The Data Coordinating Center (DCC) at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer position. This position provides qualified candidates with an opportunity to be a part of a high-functioning, cutting-edge academic research operation (ARO) that is working to accelerate the translation of research to the bedside.
The BI Developer will assist in the strategic design and maintenance of streamlined and performance-optimized BI solutions for the entire DCC organization. This position will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and acquire new skills while working alongside innovative individuals within the industry.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Building and Maintaining Reports (SSRS, Tableau, Power BI): Responsible for creating and managing reports using tools such as SSRS, Tableau, and Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Writing Ad-Hoc Queries (T-SQL): Proficiency in writing T-SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data, optimizing query performance.
Collecting Requirements and Documenting Processes: Liaise with business stakeholders to gather BI requirements and document processes.
Developing and Maintaining ETL Processes (SSIS): Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS.
Building and Maintaining OLAP Tools (SSAS): Create and manage OLAP cubes using SSAS, optimizing cube performance.
Following Industry Standards and Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in business intelligence and data analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Preferences:
- Proven experience as a BI Developer
- Background in data warehouse design
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP and ETL frameworks
- Familiarity with core BI technologies (T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Tableau, Power BI)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills
- Strong ability to explain advanced data concepts to both technical and non-technical users
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
