Production Engineer

Description
A manufacturing company located in WN Houston is looking for a Production Engineer. You will be given multiple open-ended projects related to streamlining manufacturing processes, developing jigs, writing procedures, and providing hands-on support to the manufacturing departments, consisting of Assembly, Fabrication, and Finishing (Wet Paint / Powder coating). You will also work closely with the Quality Assurance department.
You will report directly to the Operations Manager
Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing for continuous improvement, quality issues on the floor, new product launches, prototype support, support ECNs
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WITH TOOLS IN A HANDS-ON CAPACITY
• Write and develop work instructions and procedures
• Support in general warehouse layout and developing workflows for optimizing efficiency
• Implement and audit 5S processes throughout each department
• Create manufacturing process documentation (Assembly, Fabrication)
• Develop jigs / fixtures for streamlining assembly / fabrication processes
• Identify bottlenecks in manufacturing processes and provide solutions
• Develop BOM structure and provide feedback for improvements
• Conduct Root-Cause Analysis
• Review designs for manufacturability and provide feedback
• Maintain good working relationship between engineering and manufacturing employees
• Support prototype builds by assembling with production employees
• Help in dispositioning non-conforming materials and parts to minimize impact to the company
• Complete miscellaneous tasks and projects as directed by manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 5+ years in a manufacturing setting with steel fabrication
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (or equivalent 3D software)
• Proficiency in Excel (can perform complex functions)
• Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing experience
