What You'll Do:

This role will enable analytics capabilities across OCC by making internal application data accessible, usable, and/or actionable. Responsibilities may include identifying and prioritizing stakeholder data needs for ingestion and curation within a centralized data hub, governance of and improvements to analytics platforms and processes, consultation with stakeholders on leveraging data to self-service their own solutions, or end-to-end development of highly visible solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and prioritize stakeholder data needs for ingestion and curation within a centralized data hub.
  2. Support governance of and/or improvements to analytics platforms and processes.
  3. Consult stakeholders on leveraging data to self-service their own solutions.
  4. Create documentation and testing to ensure developed data solutions are accurate and easily understood by others.
  5. Discover and share best practices on data and analytics development with members of the team and analysts throughout the organization.
  6. Invest in continued learning on data and analytics best practices and evaluate opportunities to apply toward OCC’s analytics processes, solutions, and infrastructure.
  7. Lead end-to-end development of highly visible solutions, as needed.
  8. Assist analysts across the organization with general analytics questions/challenges, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • (Required) Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to craft or advise on solutions that achieve business objectives while also aligning development with internal delivery and security standards.
  • (Required) Ability to communicate technical concepts with audiences of varying levels of technical background and synthesize non-technical requests into technical output.
  • (Required) High attention to detail and ability to think structurally about a solution.
  • (Required) Ability to navigate constraints and resolve most issues independently.
  • (Required) Ability to learn new business domains and relevant technology to enrich our team culture and practices.
  • (Preferred) Experience working within an agile environment.
  • (Preferred) Experience using Jira/Confluence.
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with the OKR goal-setting framework.

Technical Skills:

  • (Required) Proficient in functional programming (e.g., Python and/or R) to write and deploy testable scripts to extract, integrate, and wrangle data.
  • (Required) Experience with a data visualization/reporting tool (e.g., Tableau).
  • (Required) Ability to write analytical SQL (e.g., JOIN, WHERE, UNION, CASE, subquery/CTEs) against relational databases.
  • (Preferred) Experience working with REST APIs for data extraction (e.g., Basic Auth, Oauth, HTTPS, pagination, parsing JSON).
  • (Preferred) Experience with a source code versioning tool (e.g., Git/Github).
  • (Preferred) Experience setting up environments, configuration files, and application code with Linux shell (Bash).
  • (Preferred) Exposure to data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) or schedulers (e.g., cron or task scheduler).
  • (Preferred) Understanding of applied statistics and hands-on experience applying these concepts.

Education and/or Experience:

  • (Required) Bachelor's degree in quantitative/analytical discipline (or equivalent professional training or 2+ years related work experience).
  • (Preferred) Master's degree in quantitative/analytical discipline.
