job summary:
A Senior Piping Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. The Senior Piping Designer oversees the design and drafting of piping layouts and models using Hexagon S3D software, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, ensures compliance with industry standards, and leads design efforts for energy and industrial projects such as LNG, hydrogen, and carbon capture plants.

responsibilities:
Directly performs or oversees designers and drafters within a design group.
Prepares layouts, study drawings, 2D/3D CAD models, and construction drawings.
Utilizes Hexagon S3D software extensively.
Consults with equipment suppliers, technical specialists, and clients to exchange technical information.
Communicates with design and engineering supervisors across related disciplines.
Plans and conducts independent work using judgment to evaluate, select, and adapt designs.
Ensures adherence to industry standards, codes, and quality practices.
Receives supervision and technical guidance from senior supervisors.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with design standards for quality and safety.
Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize efforts across the team.
Skills:
Knowledge of engineering and construction materials related to piping design.
Familiarity with industry standards, design criteria, and codes.
Understanding of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae, and design calculations.
Experience with layouts in LNG plants, ECU units, hydrogen/methanol plants, and/or carbon capture.
Education and Experience:
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Drafting/Engineering (preferred but not required).
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in plant layout using 3D modeling (e.g., S3D).
