After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation's first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.

SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Brightline West team. This individual will be responsible for construction administration, including processing contractor submittals, requests for information, and pay applications, and typical construction disciplines including mass and finish grading, surface water management infrastructure, bridges, temporary and permanent earth retention, track construction, wayside signalization, and peripheral road construction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mastery of the project documents including the plans, specifications, contract(s), and regulatory permits.
  • Foster a productive partnership with contractors and suppliers.
  • Process contractor submittals, RFI's, and pay applications.
  • Analyze schedule submittals, including short-interval look aheads and the project CPM schedule.
  • Monitor schedule performance, collaborate with contractors to maintain schedule adherence, and analyze and forecast cost at completion.
  • Technical support of the change management process including evaluation of plan and specification changes, value engineering proposals, requests for additional compensation, and requests for time extension
  • Effective and transparent communication with subordinates and superiors, team members, design professionals, contractors, and regulatory agencies, acting as a relentless champion for the expeditious resolution of construction challenges as they arise to mitigate cost and/or schedule impacts.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction of multidisciplinary heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency in two or more heavy civil construction disciplines including mass grading, earth retention, drainage infrastructure, bridges, track construction, or road construction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in job cost management and project cost accounting processes and in the application of CPM scheduling.
