Software Engineer III - Platform Technology - Integrated Content

The EA Digital Platform (EADP) organization powers the global EA ecosystem. We provide the foundation for all of EA’s incredible games and player experiences with high-level platforms like Cloud, Commerce, Data and AI, Gameplay Services, Identity and Social. By providing reusable capabilities that game teams can easily integrate into their work, we let them focus on making some of the best games in the world and creating meaningful relationships with our players. We’re behind the curtain, making it all work together.

For this role, you will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and get exposed to many technologies. You’ll join the Integrated Content team at the center of our User-Generated Experiences (UGX) technology for moderating, enriching and distributing player driven content. You’ll engage with different EADP service teams and game teams around the globe to provide outstanding innovation and performance for our upcoming top games.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop dynamic, responsive, and resilient systems using Java and Scala, ensuring high performance and innovation for our games.
  2. Collaborate closely with team members, internal customers, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, and contribute to technical design documents, ensuring clarity and feasibility.
  3. Employ excellent problem-solving skills to navigate iteratively changing requirements during the development process.
  4. Identify gaps in existing systems or processes and present them to team lead.
  5. Design, implement and maintain complex systems and features end-to-end.
  6. Coach and support more junior team members.
  7. Work in partnership with service teams and game development teams to identify and implement solutions and workflow enhancements.
  8. Contribute to the implementation, maintenance, and evolution of automated testing across a distributed service stack, ensuring reliability and quality.
  9. Provide support to manage and resolve integration issues and live incidents, ensuring smooth operations and game experiences.

Qualifications

  1. 6+ years professional experience programming back-end services.
  2. Have owned the development, delivery and maintenance of complex systems in production environments.
  3. Embrace continuous learning and continuous improvement.
  4. Exposure to a variety of programming paradigms, including both imperative and functional programming languages, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to learn.
  5. Experience with Java, Scala, Kotlin, JavaScript/Node, Clojure.
  6. Experience deploying and maintaining virtual infrastructure (e.g. AWS, ECS, Terraform).
  7. Ability to work effectively within a team in an agile and iterative development environment, showcasing adaptability and collaborative skills.
  8. Ability to drive technical solutions end-to-end.
  9. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of conveying complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  10. You are a motivated individual with a passion for gaming and technology, eager to learn and grow within the field of software engineering.
