This position sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

A Software Development Engineer (Test) I at ConstructConnect is a developer with the primary responsibility of ensuring software quality. This is predominantly done through developing test strategies, creating / updating test automation code, executing tests (both automated and manual), and analyzing / troubleshooting defects. It is a unique and challenging role that combines the "building" aspect of software development with the "breaking" aspect of software testing. While they are responsible for all quality activities within their team, the focus is on collaboration and writing code that automatically verifies application changes.

SDET I’s are expected to have competency both in software development and software testing practices. They collaborate with product development teams to ensure the delivery of high quality, high value product features. They understand how our customers use our products and applications, and the technical implementation of them. They ensure our sites, products, and platforms perform to industry-beating quality levels by designing, developing, and maintaining automated solutions using Python / Pytest that support the development, testing, and deployment of our software solutions. SDET I’s may specialize in managing quality within a specific engineering domain (ex Front-end, Back-end, etc) and are expected to take responsibility for work and follow through on commitments, but proactively reach out for assistance with complex solutioning is expected. What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Maintain product and application expertise through product documentation, internal collaboration, and customer feedback
  2. Develop test strategies / plans / scenarios and acceptance tests
  3. Design, build, and execute test cases, including manual and automated frontend / backend tests on one or more application platforms, such as Desktop and Web
  4. Create and maintain automated tests in Python / Pytest
  5. Analyze, troubleshoot, and report test results
  6. Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines
  7. Actively participate in design and code reviews to design and implement stable, testable, high-quality services and functionality
  8. Operate within an Agile framework, adapting to iterative development cycles and contributing to scrum ceremonies
  9. Pursue continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of industry standards and new technologies
What You Bring To The Team

  1. BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience
  2. 1 to 3 years software testing or development experience with 1+ years hands-on coding experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java, Python preferred
  3. Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Principles, Data Structures, and Algorithms
  4. The ability to keep current with the constantly changing technology industry
  5. A passion for design, development, and testing
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems
  7. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  1. The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  2. This position is fully remote with only occasional travel to the office for team meetings and events. Team members are expected to have an established workspace.
  3. Ability to work remotely in the United States or Canada.
