David Evans and Associates (DEA) is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer for our Portland, OR office. In this role, you will support our Transit and Rail group and contribute to a variety of transportation projects. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with strong technical skills and engineering judgment to take concept designs and transform them into construction-ready plans and technical specifications.
About the Role:The successful candidate will work on multi-discipline projects, performing engineering calculations and design across a variety of transportation-related tasks. You'll have the opportunity to work on track design, street improvements, utility plans, bike and pedestrian facilities, station design, grading, site development, signing and striping, traffic control plans, and more. We seek someone with experience in 3D modeling, ADA requirements, quantity take-offs, cost estimating, and specifications development. The ideal candidate is eager to take on new challenges, grow their skills, and has a passion for excellence. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, and an interest in project management is a plus.
Projects You'll Work On:The Portland Transit and Rail team supports local transit agencies and remotely contributes to national transit markets. Our projects include light rail track design, streetcars, commuter rail, bus rapid transit (BRT), express bus systems, transit stations, and other bus facilities. In addition to transit projects, you may assist other DEA groups on roadway projects, construction observation, and other multidisciplinary efforts.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and staff to coordinate project efforts.
- Design and oversee the preparation of preliminary and final civil construction plans using Civil3D or OpenRoads.
- Ensure on-time, on-budget project execution while maintaining industry-leading quality standards.
- Participate in business development and client engagement activities.
- Coordinate and review designs from other disciplines, including traffic, structures, stormwater, erosion control, and water systems.
- Prepare and modify reports, specifications, and cost estimates for assigned projects.
- Assess permitting needs and coordinate permit applications.
- Manage project tasks, tracking project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- Experience working with state and local agencies.
- Proficiency in MicroStation/InRoads, OpenRoads, and/or Civil3D design software.
- Minimum of four years of civil engineering experience related to transportation projects.
- PE License in the State of Oregon.
- Experience working with Oregon state and local agencies.
- 6+ years of transportation project experience.

Potential salary range is$85,000 - 113,000depending on location and experience
