Join us as we digitally connect the world and shape the future.The RoleThe role of Senior Planning Engineer is pivotal in ensuring efficient and timely deployment of infrastructure projects to meet customer demand. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and planning optimal network solutions utilization Lumen standards, consumption trends, new technologies, industry design requirements and future opportunities. Assimilation of various internal and external customer requirements, creates new network solutions, assembles the required equipment augment costs and budgets and participates in the overall network augment approval and trigger process. Rolls out specific Infrastructure projects. Is considered a subject matter expert and acts as technical lead and mentor.This position's primary responsibility is working in conjunction with multiple groups to develop engineer/initiate-implement critical infrastructure engineering plans (i.e. Site civil Construction including Site Development, utility power, ac surge suppression, generator/transfer switches, HVAC, DC power, grounding and lightning, final floor and space planning and records/capacity.) This position resides in the Custom Network solutions department and is considered a lead position that requires the individual to be an accomplished technical engineer/planner who is adept at budgeting, planning, facilitating, and kicking highly accurate plans off for deployment of critical systems and build outs with specific expertise in areas of telecommunications with emphasis of site civil construction, DC power, electrical and mechanical. The Senior Planner will interact and work closely with key internal and external groups along with vendors to create, establish, and enforce project plans for the installation of services with effective governance and communications.The Main ResponsibilitiesProject Planning – develop project plans including all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion, tasks, and timelines with great vision and clarity while performing risk assessment, contingency planning, and resource management to ensure services are consistently delivered correctly and cost effectively on a timely manner.Knowledge of Project Implementation – Reviews project tasks through daily communication and weekly team meetings; managing Change Control, Overview of supplier ordering, shipping, and receiving of all hardware and equipment; coordinate with Field Operations/Implementation teams in construction, space and power requirements while driving deployment and installations of network standards.Knowledge of Project Reporting – effectively review and communication of project plans and status with high clarity, visibility, and frequency while capturing and measuring metrics and monitoring performance against the project tasks and dependencies. Review weekly updates on meeting minutes and project plans to senior level management and key strategic stake holders.Initiates work identifying current or potential problems in the network and defines appropriate solutions. Functions as technical lead and mentors team members, may supervise work of personnel on assigned projects. Acts as lead for mission-critical cross-functional interdepartmental teams.Defines the need for and documents extremely complex detailed technical methodology for installation of infrastructure equipment of moderate complexity, including written directions, graphical equipment layouts, and equipment topology.What We Look For in a CandidateSound presentation skills (e.g. PowerPoint, ability to summarize recommendation, etc.)Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong data/economic analysis skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsDetail oriented with an intense focus on qualityProven track record as adept and effective project managerExceptional organizational, prioritization, and communications skillsStrong programming computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Access, Visio, ACAD, and SQLExperience in an engineering role that included a substantial business/financial focus (preferred)An ability to understand complex technical issues and learn quickly.Collaborates with architects, engineers, electricians, and other specialists.Writes and submits testing and inspection logs, quality assurance reports, and punch lists.Ensures that all local, state, and national building codes and regulations and safety precautions are followed.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree or 5 plus years of relevant job experience.Preferred QualificationsField Of Study: construction science and management, engineering, architecture, business administration, or a related degreeProficient at basic AutoCAD skill, blueprint and schematic understandingOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour Outreach Training#CNPCompensationThe starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location.
