SUMMARY
The Engineer is responsible for supporting both pre-sale technical as well as post-sale detailed engineering activities. Overall accountable for defining the technical solutions that are proposed/quoted to Westerman's customers for assigned opportunities. Once a project is awarded to Westerman this role picks up from the pre-sale activities and develops the detailed engineering to support development of a fabrication drawing package and Bill of Materials. This position is the lead technical representative for assigned proposals/quotes and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate customer supplied data (3D CADD files, drawings, scopes of work, and quality documents) to extract requirements that impact the designs and ultimately the end product for purposes of quoting and performing detailed engineering
- Actively engage with external customers, project managers, and the commercial team in discussions about gaps in defined scope of supply as compared with customer requirements
- Passionately pursue the identification of scope change and escalate to the project manager or commercial lead for consideration
- Develop P&ID's from scratch or via redlining of existing to communicate project requirements to Estimators and Designers
- Perform equipment sizing calculations using process simulation software (ProMax), in-house developed spreadsheets, etc.
- Provide review and approval of all 3D model and drawings for assigned projects
- Perform process design calculations for control valves, pressure regulators, pressure safety valves, and pressure vacuum relief valves
- Perform ASME pressure vessel code calculations using Codeware COMPRESS
- Bachelor's degree required, with emphasis on either Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a similar capacity in a manufacturing environment with engineered to order products required.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI and other standards required.
- Experience in applying NFPA requirements for electrical area classification to designs required.
- Experience specifying and designing process control systems comprised of a mix of pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and electronic devices required.
- In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for Oil & Gas process equipment design and fabrication.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and in managing work against safety, quality, cost and time constraints.
- Ability to develop process equipment scheme and layout from conceptual design basis considering operability, maintenance and safety.
- Multi-tasking and ability to work well under pressure with multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend project specifications and contract documents.
- Ability to review and comprehend Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID's).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Software proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
- Software proficiency in ProMax and Codeware COMPRESS.
