Job Requirements / Description

Glocomms is partnered with a cutting-edge quantitative trading firm in Chicago, spearheading the search for a Senior Security Engineer to secure the firm's algorithmic trading systems, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines. The engineer will be responsible for defending against sophisticated cyber threats, securing high-frequency trading platforms, and implementing robust cloud security solutions. This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility to work remotely while collaborating closely with on-site teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity and a proven track record in securing large-scale, fast-paced environments, particularly those associated with algorithmic trading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy advanced security solutions to protect the firm’s high-speed algorithmic trading systems, real-time data feeds, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
  • Build and maintain a multi-layered security architecture for low-latency trading platforms, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of trading strategies and proprietary algorithms.
  • Utilize SIEM tools to monitor trading operations, detect security incidents in real time, and ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests using tools like Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, and Metasploit, ensuring that any vulnerabilities in the trading infrastructure are quickly addressed.
  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers, developers, and DevOps teams to integrate security best practices into the CI/CD pipeline and secure containerized environments.
  • Implement and monitor network security solutions to protect against DDoS attacks, insider threats, and external cyber intrusions, ensuring minimal impact on trading performance.
  • Manage cloud security initiatives, leveraging cloud-native tools (AWS Shield, GCP Security Command Center) to secure cloud-hosted applications, storage, and data pipelines.
  • Support internal and vendor SecOps partners on Incident Response and forensic investigations.
  • Stay ahead of the latest cyber threats and trends by continuously improving security protocols and adapting to the fast-paced nature of quantitative trading.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage security audits related to financial regulations and internal security standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, particularly in fast-paced, technology-driven environments such as quantitative or high-frequency trading firms.
  • Extensive experience with cloud security (AWS, GCP) and securing large-scale cloud infrastructures.
  • Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, Elastic), vulnerability management platforms (Tenable, Qualys), and penetration testing tools (Burp Suite, Nessus).
  • Strong understanding of network security, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption protocols.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and experience securing containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) in a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Ability to respond to security incidents swiftly and perform thorough forensic investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
