Position Summary The Center for Translational Bioinformatics (CTBI) at Washington University is recruiting a senior programmer analyst to work in a team environment towards the development of a beyond state-of-the-art, next-generation artificial intelligence system for precisions medicine. This system will be capable of ingesting medical knowledge from a multitude of sources including text, such as journal articles, as well as data from omics, chemical, and healthcare sources. Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluates user requests for new or modified computer programs.
- Determines feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.
- Participates in planning meetings and outlines steps required to develop program.
- Organizes the work of other programmers and analysts working on project.
- Designs computer files, input and output formats and writes system and program specifications.
- Designs and writes new computer programs and maintains existing ones.
- Plans and executes testing and debugging of programs.
- Provides technical support for non-technical personnel in use of mainframe, mini and microcomputer systems.
- Assists users of microcomputers with peripheral devices, data communications and word processing, spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ideal candidates will have five to seven years of Python software development experience.Â
- Academic only experience will be considered but some commercial/industry software development experience.
- Interest in developing novel AI/Machine Learning methods to be applied in a medical research setting.
- Motivated candidate with a desire to take on new scientific challenges and with demonstrated talent for novel algorithm development.Â
- Thorough understanding of online environments, mainframe systems and data communication principles.
- Strong project management and supervision skills.
Equivalent of Bachelorâs degree in computer science or related field with six years of programmer analyst experience.
Grade G14 Salary Range $75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Questions
