Role

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for fulfilling the role of Company Quality expert; this is a hands-on position. Ensure the quality of the parts produced, meet all customer expectations; quickly and effectively take proactive action when non-conformances are found. Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements QMS, and therefore ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the API Q1 10.0 quality management system standards. Evaluates production processes and performance in manufacturing. Works with cross functional teams to improve the quality of existing production processes, works with manufacturing engineering and product engineering to develop new processes to improve quality and efficiency. Develops and conducts QMS Internal auditing, and QMS training.


Essential Functions

  • Leads Quality related problem solving and root cause analysis in Manufacturing.
  • Using Lean Manufacturing tools, identifies Waste in Manufacturing and implements Improvements.
  • Ensures compliance and assists in adherence of QMS and API Q1 10.0 standards. Internal Auditing.
  • Works to resolve NCRs, Customer complaints and Warranty Claims. Maintains Lessons Learned database.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams in changes related to current products to meet specifications.
  • Using basic statistical techniques, provide recommendations to production, manufacturing and product engineering on process improvements.by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sampling sizes and determining risks and levels of confidence. Hypothesis testing, Normal Distribution, and Process Capability Analysis.
  • Review product specifications, quality and statistical data for compliance per customer requirements.
  • Develops experiments by applying full and fractional factorials DOEs.
  • Assist suppliers in their continuing quality development and in meeting API standards and compliance.
  • Responsible for day-to-day in-process QC audits per master auditing list ranging Work in Process Inspections, Final inspection. gauge/tool maintenance and calibrations regular testing operations
  • Writing failure analysis reports on field return iron for customer service and product engineers
  • Develop metallurgical receiving inspection plans for components and materials.
  • Supports the QC/MFG manager in the implementation and maintenance of the QMS.
  • Responsible for maintaining product quality and related documentation.
  • Responsible for the Calibration System, Calibration Standards ASTM, NIST and ISO 9001:2015.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Lean Manufacturing / 6 Sigma experience.
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience in a quality role within a regulated industry.
  • QMS Internal Auditing Experience.
  • Good knowledge and skill in technical problem analyze 8D report, 5 Why Analyze, Control Plans, DMAIC.
  • Experience with new product introduction, capability studies and prototypes.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment, welding, fabrication and assembly.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • This position requires working primarily in an office environment. When on work sites it requires working on surface areas that are often muddy or slippery. It also requires working around heavy machinery, mechanical equipment with moving parts and electrical equipment as well as exposure to loud noises and contaminants. The employee is regularly required to operate vehicles and drive long distances on company business.
