Senior Test Engineer, 5G Base Station

The Senior Test Engineer, 5G Base Station will be responsible for developing, testing, and verification of the 5G base station, with concentration on the development of the Radio Unit (RU). This is part of the Kyocera advanced 5G base station development for markets in Japan and other countries.

Responsibilities:

• Work with other engineers to develop, enable, and debug new features from the baseline software/server platform for RU, DU, and CU.
• Develop, test, and verify setups for the 5G Base Station development.
• Collaborate with system and RF engineers on functional and conformance test requirements, test setup, test plan, and test interface.
• Develop and execute test cases for Unit Test, signaling, and non-signaling test modes for RU and/or DU/CU.
• Develop test scripts using Python for automating some test procedures, interfacing to DUT and instruments, and recording test results.
• Execute various tests, test applications, Unit Test, and signaling and non-signaling modes, OTA.
• Analyze and interpret test results with system engineers and design engineers.
• Work with system engineers for fine-tuning task manager and parameters for performance optimization under various test load conditions.
• Collaborate with team members to debug and analyze new feature logs.
• Work closely with the software development team to perform conformance tests and resolve customer issues found in lab/field/IOT/carrier tests.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree with 4-6 years or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, communication area, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in Software/Firmware.
• In-depth understanding of 3GPP 5G NR and ORAN standards.
• Programming: Python, C/C++, Shell script. Good knowledge of RF and microwave.
• In-depth understanding of Core Network and traffic generator, as well as the 5G Network Architecture.
• Experience with (R&S/Viavi) test equipment and related software/signal suite/test scripts.
