Operating Engineer (3rd Shift)

What this job involves:

The Operating Engineer will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment at a client’s site.
2. Ensure that work performed in client space is accomplished with a minimum of disruption and is followed by adequate clean-up.
3. Perform maintenance and monitoring repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
4. Knowledge of Critical System equipment operations such as UPS Modules, ATS, STS, Generators, PDU’s, etc.
5. Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Systems such as Maintenance Connect or similar.
6. Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance and technical proficiency.
7. Ensure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies and develop sources for stock materials related to maintaining the facility.
8. Record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
9. Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.
10. Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
11. Review monthly client service request summaries to pinpoint and correct recurrent operational problems.
12. Evaluate vendors and suppliers on a regular basis with regard to quality and competitive pricing.
13. Prepare and submit purchase order requests.
14. Verify the accuracy of deliveries for count, pricing, and description.
15. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
16. Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
17. Lead and/or assist with event setup/teardown activities including electrical, audio visual, coordinating with security or other tasks as needed.
18. Any and all other duties assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
2. Completion of a vocational/trade program.
3. 2+ years of similar working experience.
4. Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
5. Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (or within 90 days of employment).
6. Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
7. Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
8. Strong communication skills.
9. The individual in this role must be available for Call-in work.
10. Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
11. Ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods of time.
12. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Hours: 11:00pm - 7:00am
