Systems Engineer (Joint and Services Center)

Join the Soldier Capabilities department at MITRE and contribute to the development of combat and training capabilities for optimal sustained Soldier effectiveness, lethality, and readiness. Project tasks include research, requirements engineering, systems architecture, and test development.

Responsibilities:

• Develop software prototypes to demonstrate proof of concept capabilities
• Create engineering products, white papers, and briefings
• Collaborate with peers, government sponsors, and industry
• Apply system engineering skills to address Soldier effectiveness and readiness
• Evaluate training and operations performance
• Support the application of emerging technologies
• Develop system architectures

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or relevant technical discipline
• Knowledge of systems engineering across the development lifecycle
• Experience with multiple operating systems, software development tools, and programming languages
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
• Minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of related experience
• Experience working within an agile development team
• Knowledge of container technology, continuous integration/delivery, and configuration management frameworks
• Experience with web and game development technologies, cloud technologies, and industry standard technologies for defining service interfaces
• Active DoD Secret clearance
