Position Title: CNC Programmer
Department: Model Shop/Engineering
Location: Fenton, MO
Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager/Machine Shop Manager
Classification: Hourly - Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Launch newly developed offline programming department to improve overall CNC throughput, quality, and process standardization. Program will include, but not limited to, creating a standardized tooling library, routers, updating existing routers collectively with Manufacturing Engineering, CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling/fixturing, and work instructions.
Essential Job Duties:
- Create, and maintain, tool libraries to promote programming standardization.
- Utilize appropriate integration software (MasterCam, Esprit, etc.) to transfer engineered models (SolidWorks, ProE, etc.) into the appropriate machine language for manufacturability.
- Perform process on an offline workstation so CNC programs can be simulated prior to download to improve quality, machinability, and equipment throughput.
- Create centralized location on the company network to store proven programs for download to the various CNC machines.
- Work collectively with the department tech leads to prove out programs and continually look for opportunities to reduce cycle times on the shop floor.
- Evaluate and analyze new, and revised, engineering drawings/models for accuracy, manufacturability, and feasibility.
- Initiate, evaluate, and implement process improvements primarily focused on cost reductions, quality improvements, and safety.
- Interface with other departments while creating/revising machining processes to resolve issues and/or improve manufacturability.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Technical Degree, or equivalent experience.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 5 years CNC Programming experience, specifically lathes.
- Experience programming twin spindle, multi turret lathes.
Desired Experience/Skills:
- Experience programming Index, Citizen, and Okuma lathes.
