Job Description

The Finance Data Management team at U.S. Bank oversees regulatory advocacy and new regulation implementation, daily liquidity process and analysis, spot balance sheet assimilation and enhancement, and finance use cases for domain-driven architecture in the cloud.

THE ROLE:

The Senior Data Platform Engineer provides high-level architectural guidance and assists the team in aligning architecture to business requirements. This leader works across the organization to foster a culture of applying applicable and relevant design patterns, in accordance with the needs of the company and guides the teams in the organization in anticipation of future use cases. Additionally, the leaders in this newly created role will work across the organization to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Provides high-level architectural guidance and assists the team in aligning architecture to business requirements.
2. Works across the organization to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.
3. Sets the direction of the architectural roadmap.
4. Coaches the engineering organization on a debugging mindset with a view of using the appropriate tools for specific needs.
5. Drives and sets the culture of quality and timely code reviews across the organization.
6. Drives the organizational testing strategy and uses quality metrics to identify gaps.
7. Works to keep skills up-to-date to aid in decision making, coaching and facilitation.
8. Actively works with the security team to set and refine organization-wide security strategy.
9. Takes ownership of decisions made in the engineering organization by helping teams make clear decisions in alignment with enterprise goals.
10. Sets the direction of the delivery process across the organization.
11. Ensures expectations across the organization and external stakeholders are clarified between all parties involved.
12. Works across the organization to foster a culture of priority setting and urgency in alignment with organizational strategy.

Skills and Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
2. 8+ years of relevant experience
3. Thorough understanding of several team's domains and how they contribute to the overall business strategy and alignment to the technical strategy
4. Expertise in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices in an agile environment
5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
6. Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills
7. Proven collaboration and influencing skills
