SUMMARY
Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is looking to hire Registered Professional Engineers to support structural assessments of commercial properties. Successful candidates will have five years of design experience with a sound understanding of engineering fundamentals and structural design, an understanding of existing construction characteristics, strong technical writing skills, resourcefulness, and a willingness to travel as needed. We are team-focused and establish a highly collaborative working environment that rewards hard work and a curious mind.
RESPONSIBILITES
  • Conduct on-site reconnaissance, interviews, research and review of pertinent documentation and construction plans to assess building vulnerabilities and to evaluate existing structures
  • Problem solve to determine sources of distress or deficiencies, identify repair recommendations or next steps for further investigation, and generate rough order of magnitude costs for repairs of structural issues identified during assessments
  • Author structural assessment reports in accordance with Partner standards and industry best practices
  • Effectively communicate project progress and issues with the Project Manager and maintain communication with team members throughout the course of the project.
  • For further investigations or repair design, perform limited structural calculations as part of forensic analysis
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must be a self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be an enthusiastic, quick learner with a strong desire to grow within the organization
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for internal and external (client) communications; technical writing skills are a strong plus
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills in order to effectively complete work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver a quality product on time
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships within a team
  • Proficient with standard business applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of engineering
  • PE License (Registration in multiple states and/or S.E. registration are a big PLUS);
  • Experience in the design of wood-framed concrete, steel, and masonry structures;
  • Solid understanding of modern buildings codes and seismic provisions; and
  • A Master Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desirable
  • Experience in the analysis and design of structures in regions of high seismicity is a PLUS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend English
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift
  • Requires the ability to climb a ladder
