Job Summary

As a Data Governance Engineer at The Standard, you’ll be pivotal in driving the Data and Analytics strategy across all business lines. You’ll ensure effective data governance and quality practices, working within the Enterprise Data Governance Office (DGO) of the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) organization. Your responsibilities include designing and maintaining data quality frameworks, integrating cloud and on-prem data sources with the enterprise data catalog, and ensuring data discovery, metadata management, and stewardship. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain data integrity, consistency, and regulatory compliance is key. Ideal candidates will have strong backgrounds in data governance, quality management, and engineering.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implement and configure Data Governance and Data Quality platforms and metrics in Azure cloud, ensuring integration and functionality aligned with the Enterprise Data Strategy.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to implement and sustain a comprehensive data quality observability framework across the enterprise data platform (EDP).
  • Develop and promote data quality standards and procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability across business lines.
  • Collaborate and establish processes within Data Domains that define and enforce data quality standards, data classification, access management, metadata management, and data sharing agreements across the Federated Data Governance & Analytics community.
  • Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to educate, implement, and sustain data governance practices that are aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor data quality and governance effectiveness. Generate regular reports to communicate the status and progress of data quality initiatives.
  • Partner with platform and business teams to ensure compliance with data governance policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance data governance and quality.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance , data quality management , or data engineering .
  • Proficient with the implementation and operations of data governance tools and platforms, such as Collibra, Databricks Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, or similar.
  • Proficient with cloud platforms and technologies, such as Azure, and tools such as Databricks (Data Lakehouse, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake).
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, R or other programming languages for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and techniques (e.g., ER and dimensional modeling).
  • Knowledge of encryption, access controls, and authentication methods.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tools, such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with network security and firewall technologies.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and data classification.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders across the organization.
  • PREFERRED: Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Data Governance Professional (CDGP), or certifications from DAMA International.

Salary Range: $125,500.00 - $213,250.00
