What You’ll Do
The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) focuses on the host interface firmware layer that sits at the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers to big data processing and software-defined virtualized storage arrays.
Our Enterprise-class SSDs are expected to be of the highest quality; therefore, we seek a highly-experienced Test Engineer to drive continual improvement in the quality of our test infrastructure. This position will define, implement, and support functional test coverage to validate NVMe FW. Other critical activities will include constantly monitoring and analyzing test coverage and deploying new tools and capabilities into the daily regression cycles. Additionally, you will monitor quality metrics to ensure trends demonstrate constant improvement in product quality.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose office 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

- 8 to 10 years of experience in a related field of expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

- Experience working on NVMe Solid State Drives, including execution and debugging of OEM drive qualification tests.
- Ability to understand test scripts and debug failures that arise during test execution with the development team.
- Experience in running NVMe compliance is required.
- Experience in at least one front-end storage protocol like NVMe/PCIe, FC, or SAS is preferred.
- Programming/scripting background (Perl, Shell, or Python is preferred).
- Familiarity with SSD or HDD testing is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with protocol analyzers like LeCroy, SerialTek, or Xgig.
- Experience with system or device-level performance analysis.

The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training.

Base Pay Range: $60 — $75 USD
