Currently have an opening with our manufacturing client for a Principal Automation Engineer.
As the Principal Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing state-of-the-art automation solutions for Hot and Cold Rolling Mills. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that automation systems meet the highest standards of reliability, efficiency, and performance. You will lead projects that involve the modernization and installation of automation systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver results that align with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, ensuring systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and safety.
Lead the planning, execution, and commissioning of automation projects, including the modernization and installation of automation systems in Rolling Mills.
Provide expert guidance on automation technologies and best practices, particularly in relation to the Hot and Cold Rolling process.
Work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems with existing and new installations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in automation technology, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system designs, user manuals, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in an engineering role within the metals industry or a similar field, with a strong focus on automation.
Extensive experience with the Hot and Cold Rolling process and a deep understanding of the associated automation requirements.
Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and HMI design.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
