Data Engineer - Remote

Rancho BioSciences is seeking a remote data engineer to modify existing and build new solutions to support scientific data and information storage, access, and integration.

Responsibilities

  1. Build efficient, scalable data processing pipelines for both existing data assets and newly identified data sources.
  2. Implement pipelines to perform data cleanup and consistency checks across multiple datasets.
  3. Work closely with clients to understand their data integration needs.
  4. Integrate structured and unstructured data assets across multiple platforms.
  5. Find trends in datasets and develop workflows and data models.

Desired Experience and Skills

  1. 3+ years experience in a developer role with similar experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  3. Experience deploying automated data pipelines in the cloud.
  4. Must be skilled in PySpark / Databricks / Snowflake.
  5. Experience with data lake or data warehouse development.
  6. Coding skills in Python, SQL, NoSQL.
  7. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and technologies such as Databricks.
  8. Experience with DevOps tools and lifecycle management.
  9. Experience processing biotech datasets.
  10. Experience in Life Sciences (Biology, Clinical Sciences, Chemistry) is preferred.
  11. Strong attention to detail.
  12. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  13. Demonstrated experience with teamwork and collaboration amongst multiple teams.
  14. Must understand sense of urgency and have prioritization skills.
  15. Experience in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  16. Must be flexible and willing to change with quick turnarounds.
