What You Will Be Doing

This Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will perform quality assurance activities of purchased items within project phase with the objective of monitoring and guiding suppliers to define and establish processes that can deliver parts according to the agreed specifications on a consistent basis. You are responsible for the industrialization of products from sourcing phase through PPAP approval, and will manage a portfolio of suppliers within the Chassis, Vehicle Dynamics, and Metals (Body in White and General Metals) segment. This position will report to the Head of Supply Network Quality CVD & Metals North America, and can be based out of Greensboro NC (preferred), Dublin VA, Roanoke VA, Hagerstown MD, or Allentown PA.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform supplier auditing and quality assurance activities of purchased items within projects for Volvo Trucks North America, with the objective of monitoring and guiding suppliers to define and establish processes that can deliver parts according to the agreed specifications.
  • Be responsible for the industrialization of products from sourcing phase through PPAP approval, tracking and monitoring the entire APQP process along the way.
  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers, including travel approximately 50-75%.
  • Participate and contribute during design and technical specification and manufacturing feasibility reviews with suppliers and Volvo stakeholders.
  • Review tool design practices with suppliers, providing input as needed.
  • Lead review of pFMEA and Control Plans, securing Safe Launch / pre-launch and serial production product and process characteristics are optimized toward Zero Defect Mentality.
  • Promote best practices for automated process control, mistake proof, automatic inspection, and segregation of defective parts in the production process.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6 or more years of quality assurance, process quality, process engineering, or design engineering experience.
  • If you have Sheet Metal fabrication, Tubular Products, Vehicle Dynamics, or Rubber segment experience along with a background in APQP/PPAP, this is great!
  • Continuous improvement and zero-defect mentality.
  • Ability to create networks, collaborate, and lead cross-functional activities within multi-cultural teams.
  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent working experience.

Benefits Statement

For this position, the base salary range is set at $93,585 - $115,505, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
